SELECTION PROCESS – LIC HFL Junior Assistant 2026
LIC HFL Junior Assistant 2026 – Complete Selection Process, Exam Pattern & Stages Explained
The LIC HFL Junior Assistant Selection Process 2026, conducted by LIC Housing Finance Limited, has two main stages: an Online Examination and an Interview. The exam has multiple-choice questions and negative marking for wrong answers. Candidates who score well are called for the interview. Final selection is based on both exam and interview marks, along with medical and background checks.
STAGE 1 – Online Examination
The online written examination comprises five key sections: Logical Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge. Aspirants will have a total duration of 2 hours (120 minutes) to complete the exam.
Key Exam Rules:
The exam is conducted online (CBT mode). Yes, each section has 40 questions for 40 marks. The exam is conducted for 120 minutes (2 hours).
The duration of the exam is 120 minutes (2 hours) and there is no sectional timing in the online examination. The online examination will be in the English language only.
Negative Marking Rule:
"For every wrong answer to a question given by the candidate, one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question."
Cut-off Marks:
Candidates must score minimum qualifying marks in each section as well as in the aggregate to be considered for the interview.
Special Note for General Awareness:
The General Awareness section has a special emphasis on the Housing Finance Industry — make sure you study topics related to NHB, RBI housing finance guidelines, PMAY scheme, and home loan regulations.
Exam Date:
The online exam is tentatively scheduled for the first week of June 2026.
STAGE 2 – Interview
Candidates who rank sufficiently high based on online exam marks will be called for the Interview. Cutoffs are applied on individual tests and total score.
Candidates who score well are called for the interview. The interview location will be held in the same state as the vacancy.
Candidates will be assessed on their communication skills, subject knowledge, confidence, and overall suitability for the Junior Assistant role in the housing finance sector.
STAGE 3 – Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination
Once both stages are cleared, applicants must undergo a pre-recruitment medical examination to confirm their fitness for the position.
Only candidates who successfully clear the medical test will receive the final appointment letter.
📌 Important Tips for the Selection Process
- Every 4 wrong answers cancel out 1 correct answer. It is better to leave a question unattempted than to guess randomly. Educated guesses — where a candidate can eliminate 2 out of 4 options — are still worth taking. Pure guesses are not.
- Each candidate can apply for only one vacancy city. The exam centre state and vacancy state can be different, but the interview will be held in the same state as the vacancy.
- The LIC HFL Junior Assistant exam is a single-stage written test with all sections in one sitting — unlike IBPS or RBI exams which have separate Prelims and Mains. This makes it more straightforward to prepare for, since a candidate only needs to clear one written exam before the interview.
📢 Tip: Start preparation immediately — with only 5 subjects and a single written exam stage, focused preparation over the next 6 weeks can significantly improve your chances of clearing the cutoff and making it to the interview round.
